Meissen. 19th C. Porcelain, enriched in colours. Silver lid and mounting. The form is cylindrical and with a flat base. Along the upper rim where the lid rests gold lace edging. At the obverse wide mound base with prespectively designed break-off edge and two Chinese sitting on top of it. These are painting large porcelain vases - one painted with flower patterns, the other painted with a kind of gold. On the left another Chinese worker who is carrying unenriched vases in different forms to the table The handle with ornamentary strap at the lid with gadroon relief. Push-piece in the form of a large ball with flower shape resting on top. In the centre of the lid rimmed one 'Achtbrüdertaler' with the date 1608. Height 19,5cm. Swords mark, painted blue under the glaze. Silver: inspection indistinct, maker's mark IW. Hinge inscr. inside with house mark and dating 17(...). Provenance: Private collection Bavaria. Literature: Rückert, Rainer: Meissener Porzellan, Munich 1966, p.77, no. 184. Terrine with lid with chinoiseries (Munich, Bayerisches Nationalmuseum, inv. no. Ker 1668/1669) as another example for the depiction of Chinese porcelain painters on porcelains. The Chinese painting the porcelain are also on sheet 80 of the Schulz Codex.
