Description

France: Oriental-style officer's saber. Handle in eben, cap in crozier ending in a lion's head, connected to the cruiser by a jointing arch composed of a chain (here absent). Straight crosspiece enlarged in the center to form the Oriental-style mounts, decorated with foliage and a lion's head. Strong, short, curved blade with single then double cutting edge at the tip. Leather insert added later. Leather scabbard with brass fittings. Chappe detached but present. TL: 73 cm. First Empire - Restoration.
