"This banter-filled production tells the fabulous story of an estate in the commune of Macau belonging to Mr. Duffour-Dubergier, a wealthy Bordeaux merchant and mayor of the city from 1842 to 1848, who died in 1862. He had some of his friends as collaborators, notably Mr. Biarnez, wine broker, then merchant in Bordeaux." Quérard, Supercheries, t. 2, col. 186. The work is illustrated with a chromolithographed frontispiece and woodcuts, 24 of which are hors-texte. The text is framed in different colors of foliage.
