From one human being to another, but also in relation to her environment and (technological) devices. This constant tension runs like a red thread through her work. Drawing inspiration from literature, social networks, cartoons, poetry and the banality of everyday life, Henrot highlights the complexity of life in an increasingly connected and stimulating world. In her sculptural practice, Henrot is especially keen to give form to a state of "in-between", with the body continually in transition from one situation to another, fluctuating identities, inner conflicts and society's constant pressure to express and consume simultaneously. Her Overlapping Figures (2011) contain remnants of their own production: hammers, bricks, wooden planks, pieces of plaster, boxes, brushes and debris from other destroyed works. The worm-like bronze pieces seem to escape and recede simultaneously. Camille Henrot Wet Job, Middelheim Museum, Antwerp, June 11 - October 16, 2022.
