Set of 2 documents: - L.A.S. S.l.n.d. [April 4, 1870, postmarked the next day]. 1 p. in-8. Engraved letterhead with the number BA. Black ink. "Monsieur, si le livre (L'intelligence, je crois) de M. Taine a paru, veuillez donner l'ordre de l'envoyer moi. I will report on it immediately in the Constitutionnel. You will see several articles on Goethe & on your translation of Goethe, in a very short time. I asked you for the work; and when it comes to works I ask for, you can always count on me [...]". Beautiful, large signature. Letter published in Barbey d'Aurevilly, Correspondance générale (Belles-lettres, 1980) VII, 1870/4, p. 73. - C.A.S. to Charles Buet. S.l.n.d. [1882-1883]. 1 p. in-12. Black ink. Barbey's large signature engraved in red on verso. "Je vous mande par exprès que je n'irai pas au Gil Blas ce soir. Too much rain, too much poop, no car. If I'm hungry tonight, I'll go to Daumas and eat anything. Tell Georges [Landry] [...]. It's the terrible weather that's preventing me from going to your place [...]". Your customer was Madame Jeanne Pallier, aviatrix, president of the Club féminin automobile [...]"; RENAULT "TANKS" 7 typed letters signed on behalf of M. Louis Renault by Guillemont or Delcourt. One receipt signed by Louis Renault. Boulogne-Billancourt from August 5, 1918 to May 5, 1919. Documents with a few tears. All requests are for articles on the Renault FT 17 Tank, which worked wonders at the end of the war; ROLLS-ROYCE, 28 L.S. from Établissements Rolls-Royce, Paris, to l'Argus de la Presse from October 17, 1918 to January 7, 1932. 28 pp. in-4. Letterhead "ANGLO PARISIAN AUTOMOBILES LTD Dealers for Rolls-Royce PARIS - DERBY - LONDON. - Fairly neutral letters, some with peculiarities, notably the Car of TSAR NICOLAS, whose fate they are concerned about, and the Légion d'Honneur awarded to the Rolls General Secretary. - Most are signed by the manager "R.S. Berends"; RUINART fils, Marie Paul André Ruinart de Brimont dit (1861-1919) set of 3 documents, "Rheims" December 3, 5 and 6, 1906. 3 pp. in-8 and in folio. Very damaged document (tears, burns). He wishes to receive press clippings on the subject of Le prix Ruinart, for the aeronaut who will cross the Channel; VOISIN 14 documents bearing the letterhead of Aéroplanes et automobiles G. Voisin.
