Description

MARK LAITA (Detroit, 1960). "County Fair Livestock Show Contestant, Sara Von Berger, Salina, Kansas, August 8, 2003 / Cajun Man with Alligator, Charles Olivier, Loreauville, Louisiana, 2003". Ed.2/6. B&W photographs on photographic paper mounted on aluminum. Signed, dated and titled on the back. Measurements 102 x 81 cm each. 116,5 x 179 cm (frame). Mark Laita is a wonderful American photographer who after several years dedicated to commercial photography has presented in recent years a series of books with his personal work. Of these, I have selected a sample of two of the most interesting: "Created Equal", from 2010 and "Serpentine", from this year. He has produced award-winning commercial work for clients such as Adidas, Apple and Mercedes-Benz. Laita's first book of non-commercial work, Created Equal, is the result of an eight-year cross-country project featuring 8×10 black and white portraits of Americans from a wide range of cultures, occupations and backgrounds. Her work has been exhibited in galleries in the United States and Europe.
