Spanish school; c. 1940. "Portrait of Fernando Castán Palomar". Watercolor on paper Signed, dated and dedicated in the lower right area. Measurements: 33 x 23 cm; 47 x 36 cm (frame). Fernando Castán Palomar (Zaragoza, 1898 - Madrid, 1963) was a Spanish journalist, writer and film director. He studied philosophy and letters at the University of Zaragoza and in 1916 he began working as editor of El Noticiero. In 1929 he was editor of La Voz de Aragón and in 1935 he moved to Madrid to work in the editorial office of the Madrid newspaper Ya. After the outbreak of the Civil War, he became editor of the Falangist weekly Fotos.
