Pair of candlesticks; HUGO BERGER, twentieth century. Patinated iron. They show wear. Signed on the base. Measurements: 21 x 14 x 14 cm (x2). In 1895, Hugo Berger (Goberg) founded in Schmalkalden (Germany) his first metal factory, where decorative ironwork was manufactured in a traditional way. Typical of Goberg's work is the use of honest materials such as iron and brass. The handmade character clearly catches the eye. His style, method and materials fitted perfectly with the Arts & Crafts movement, a very popular style at the time.In the early 20th century he became known throughout the world, due to the fact that Liberty department stores and other associated stores sold much of his work. They show wear and tear.
