LORENZO GOÑI (Jaén, 1911 - Lausanne, Switzerland, 1992). "Sala de fiestas". Ink on paper. Measurements: 23 x 16,5 cm; 41 x 33 cm (frame). Considered one of the best Spanish illustrators of the 20th century, Lorenzo Goñi was formed in Barcelona, and at the beginning of the Civil War he began to work as a poster artist for the Sindicat de Dibuixants Professionals de UGT. In 1953 he studied engraving at the Escuela Nacional de Artes Gráficas, where his teacher was José de Castro Gil. In 1962 he obtained a scholarship from the March Foundation, and since then his career continues unstoppable; he will paint and publish drawings in newspapers, holds exhibitions of his work and obtains awards and excellent reviews. He is currently represented in the MNCA Reina Sofía, the Museo Nacional de Grabado Contemporáneo, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Toledo, the Museo Provincial de Cuenca, the Museo de Alejandría, the Museo del Dibujo Castillo de Larrés, the Museo del Grabado in Marbella, the Sztuki in Wroclaw (Poland) and the ABC de Dibujo e Ilustración in Madrid.
