After PIERRE JEAN DAVID (Angers, 1788-Paris, 1856); 20th century. "Josephine Bonaparte". Plaster. Presents inscription and signature. Measures 17.5 cm (diameter). Relief in polychrome plaster representing the profile bust of Josephine Bonaparte. The work follows the models of Pierre-Jean David, a French sculptor, medalist and active mason. He adopted the name David d'Angers, following his entry into the workshop of the painter Jacques-Louis David in 1809, as a way both to express his heritage and to distinguish himself from the master painter.
