Large Boulle-style cartel in brass and tortoiseshell marquetry. Rich ornamentation of gilded bronzes decorated with brass foliage scrolls on a red tortoiseshell background, inlaid on all sides. Gilt bronze movement dial and enamel cartouches. Capital with doucine and cavet framed by fire pots. The capital-shaped upper part is framed by fire pots and surmounted by a statue of Minerva. The central part features a case containing a movement framed by four terms above a draped figure and Apollo's chariot, drawn by two horses. It rests on a counter base decorated with a central canopy or baldachin and bordered by festoons, the whole adorned with campanes and supporting four large bronze horses. It is presented on a "Boulle" marquèterie lamp base flanked by two acanthus foliage falls and ram heads. Total height 155cm Very good condition, operation not guaranteed The exceptional size of this Louis XIV-style model in the style of Jean I Bérain, the richness of the bronze decoration and the quality of the brass and tortoiseshell marquetry on all three sides are particularly noteworthy.
