Resting on a painted square base Unique piece circa 1970-1974 H : 188.5 cm Diam : 12 cm GUY DE ROUGEMONT Guy de Rougemont was born in 1935, and trained at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Fascinated by Matisse and Bonnard, his various stays in Spain and the United States left an indelible mark on his creations. Above all, he was a "geometer of color", abolishing all boundaries between painting and sculpture. In parallel with his research into the "radicalization of color", he explored "the environment and the 3rd dimension" in monumental works, while producing furniture and objects (lamps, etc.) in a constant concern to link art to everyday life. He carried out a great deal of research into both the ellipse and the cylinder or tube, although this transition did not take place until the 1970s. The power of his work and research made him an "immortal", as he was elected to the Académie in 1997.
