France, Louis-Philippe (1830-1848). Pistolet à percussion d'Officier modèle 1833 du 1er type de la Manufacture d'Armes de Châtellerault, made between 1840 and 1843. Cal. 17.1 mm. Octagonal ribbed barrel with case-hardened finish, slightly flared at the muzzle, undated and unmarked, with sight and rear sight attached. It is rifled with forty-eight "hair" stripes. Round Pontcharra-style flat-body lock with white polished finish, signed "Manufacture Royale de Châtellerault" and "A C" in cursive letters inscribed in an oval, and hallmarked "D" in a lozenge for Louis-Philippe DOMBRET, controller of locks at the manufacture, from 1837 to 1848. Flat-bodied dog. Steel fittings with white polished finish. Walnut stock, finely checkered and well stamped "CP" in cursive letters, for Pierre CAZAMAJOU, controller of "finished" weapons from 1840 and 1843, finger rest trigger guard, and screw-on cap for accessory housing. Steel ramrod with brass tip. Functional mechanism with two clear, play-free cocking notches. The inside of the barrel is clean with hairline scratches bearing traces of oxidation and blunted at the muzzle. Complete. 36.3 cm (barrel 19.8 cm). (Good condition). Note: Officer's pistols model 1833 of the 1st type produced by the Manufacture de Châtellerault generally bear no date on the barrel, only the locks bear the inscription "Manufacture Royale de Châtellerault" until the end of Louis-Philippe's reign in 1848.

All metal parts in their original lightened finish. Octagonal ribbed barrel, slightly flared at the muzzle, undated and unmarked, with sight and rear sight attached. It is rifled with forty-eight "hair" stripes. Flat-bodied Pontcharra-style round lock signed "Manufacture Royale de Châtellerault" and "de Jouslard" inscribed in an oval, and hallmarked "D" under star for Jean-Baptiste DOMBRET, controller of locks at the manufacture from 1830 to 1858. Flat-bodied dog. Speckled steel fittings. Finely checkered walnut stock, well stamped "PC" under crown, for Pierre CAZAMAJOU, controller of the "finished" weapons of 1840 and 1843, finger rest trigger guard, and screw cap for housing accessories. Steel ramrod with brass tip. Functional mechanism with two clear, play-free cocking notches. The inside of the barrel is very clean with good scratches. Complete. 36.3 cm (barrel 19.8 cm). (Good condition). Note: Officer's pistols model 1833 of the 1st type produced by the Manufacture de Châtellerault generally bear no date on the barrel, only the locks bear the inscription "Manufacture Royale de Châtellerault" until the end of Louis-Philippe's reign in 1848.
