Louis AUCOC - known as Aucoc Aîné in Paris, circa 1845 - 1850 Exceptional travel set by Count Charles Joachim ROBINEAU de ROCHEQUAIRIE (1820-1880) The burr-veneered case is adorned with brass fillets reworked in intaglio with a foliate décor and decorated in the center with the coat-of-arms of the Counts de Rochequairie supported by two lions. It opens with a lid lined with a retractable mirror, revealing an interior lined with purplish morocco and two central compartments covered with original royal-blue velvet. It contains a travel set in crystal, silver (hallmark: Minerve 1st title) and brown tortoiseshell with fine chased or reperced decoration of flowers and foliage framed by raised foliage fillets. Each silver coin is centered on a cartouche inscribed with the owner's number under a count's crown. Signed "Aucoc Aîné à Paris" on the brass and each piece bears the Aucoc goldsmith's hallmark. Mid-19th century Height Height : 16,5 cm Width: 38.5 cm Depth : 26.5 cm Minor restoration to the veneer, missing brass on the lid and missing key. A piece of crystal is cracked, a pair of scissors and a seal are missing, and a button-puller is damaged, but otherwise very complete with its many accessories.
