Cap Horniers Konvolut
Collection of approx. 60 documents (typescripts, letters, newspaper articles, etc.) of the International Brotherhood of Cap Horniers (Kaphoorniers) from 1957-61 - Membership of the worldwide association of Cap Horniers, founded in 1936 in St. Malo, France, was only open to those who were captains on long voyages and had circumnavigated the southern tip of South America, Cape Horn, in both directions on a cargo ship, i.e. without an engine. Around 2003/2004, the friendship association was dissolved for reasons of age.- The collection primarily contains meeting reports and minutes of the meeting of the German Section/Elbe District of the Cap Horniers, as well as membership lists, letters of invitation, Christmas greetings, obituaries, a membership card, a nautical report on the sinking of the 'Pamir' in 1957, etc.- From the possession of the Hamburg captain and Cap Hornier Georg H.
