Pendant watch: extremely rare gold/enamel chatelaine watch 'Etruscan Revival', Mellerio dits Meller Paris circa 1870 Ca. 13 cm long, total weight ca. 68g, 18k gold, chatelaine and case enamelled in the same style, set with diamonds and decorated with violet stones, lepine case of excellent quality, coined band, ca. Ø28mm, serial number 11659, dome signed, bar movement, cylinder escapement, screwed enamel dial, fine Breguet hands, matching chatelaine in extremely magnificent finish, decorated with 4 Oriental pearls in addition to the diamond setting, completely original condition with matching seal and original key, movement needs overhaul (winding), extremely rare in this design, which is known as the 'Archaeological Revival' around 1870. Francois Mellerio was one of the most important Italian jewellers, opened his shop in Paris in 1801 and counted numerous European royal families among his customers.
