Launched on May 4, 1971, this is a Series 2, which retains its original yellow headlights. Its black configuration with tobacco leatherette interior is particularly flattering. The history of this car is clear, as it has known only 4 owners. The first kept it for 23 years, until 1994, when it was acquired by the second owner, who then sold it after 12 years in 2006 to the third owner, who kept it for 16 years, before the current fourth owner acquired it in 2022. He then completed the bodywork work carried out by his predecessor, notably by replacing the front apron, although he concentrated mainly on the mechanical side, to make this beautiful Italian with a real sporting temperament more reliable. In fact, the running gear has been overhauled, with new silentblocks, all steering ball joints and geometry adjustments. At the same time, the transmission flector and engine mounts were also replaced. The braking and fuel systems were also overhauled, in addition to a general check-up, including greasing. The engine was then overhauled by a specialist, with the cylinder head rectified, liners, pistons and connecting-rod bearings, seals, timing chain and water pump replaced, and the cooling system drained. In all, just over €10,000 has been spent over the past two years on the mechanical upgrade. Aesthetically, the already old paintwork, a few perfectible adjustments and slightly dull chromes deserve attention to restore this pretty old car to its former glory. While the upholstery, which had already been overhauled a few years ago, is in fine condition, other trim and fittings in the cabin, such as the dashboard cap and roof lining, would benefit from replacement or cleaning to enhance presentation. As a result, the car now sports a certain patina, which is certainly coherent but not as enhancing as it could be. This Alfa Bertone 1750 coupé had just under 80,000 kms on the day of our test drive, probably original according to the accompanying file of invoices. Without being perfect, it is in satisfactory overall condition, and above all in optimal working order following the many recent works it has undergone. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find a car whose history can be traced, and this remains an undeniable advantage for the future. What's more, this French Bertone coupé, in its most coveted version and with its attractive original configuration, is ready to roll and just waiting for a new owner to roar with pleasure. Presented at the 1963 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT replaces the Giulietta, which was a great commercial success. The same was true of the Giulia, whose career, with its many versions, lasted more than 15 years. The beauty of its lines is due to the pencil stroke of a talented designer, barely 21, who had just joined Bertone: Giorgetto Guigiaro. This was one of his first creations. The coupé was daring for its time, with its "Bialbero" powertrain at the cutting edge of technology. The engine block is made entirely of aluminum and features two overhead camshafts. Initially offered with a 1600 engine on the Giulia Sprint GT, a smaller 1300-engined "Junior" version of the Giulia Bertone coupé appeared in 1966. The 1600 version was then called Giulia Sprint GT Veloce. Several evolutions followed, always more powerful and better finished. In 1968, the new GT Veloce (replacing the 1600) was presented at the Brussels Motor Show. The Giulia name disappeared, but the spirit of the car remained.
