Initially a theatrical photographer, he was soon distributed by the daily newspaper Libération. He joined the VU' agency at its creation, and as one of its very first members, he took part in the development of a new type of reportage that defined the photographer first and foremost as an author. For the past fifteen years, Pierre-Olivier Deschamps has focused on architecture, urban landscapes, design and arts and crafts in all their forms, whatever their style, use or condition. His eye for detail and mastery of techniques enable him to go beyond the constraints of representation and highlight the issues at stake, beyond simple photographic capture.
