the oval seal in gilt metal with the coat of arms of Léon de Montesquiou-Fézensac (1873-1915), surmounted by a ribbon inscribed "LÉON DE MONTESQUIOU". Good condition. Circa 1900. L. 9 cm. Provenance Count Léon de Montesquiou-Fézensac, born on July 14, 1873 in Briis-sous-Forges and killed for France on September 25, 1915 in Souain, was a French essayist and royalist and nationalist activist. Comte de Montesquiou was a leading exponent of the Action française movement and a contributor to the Revue d'Action française (later L'Action française) until the Great War, along with Georges Valois, Jacques Bainville, Louis Dimier, Marie de Roux and Léon Daudet, among others. He was also General Secretary of the Ligue d'Action française.
