CARNOT (Lazare, 1753-1823),
Handwritten document signed "Carnot", then Minister of War, Paris, 22 germinal an 8 (=12 april 1800), 1 p. in-4 on the letterhead of the Département de la Guerre, 1e division, Bureau de la Discipline, indicating to the General commanding the 19th division the manner in which the Conseil de guerre should be formed, to decide on the fate of Lemarquant, Lamarre and Rosier.
Attached is another handwritten document signed "Carnot", then Minister of War, Paris, 1er fructidor an 8 (=19 août 1800), 1 p. in-4 on the letterhead of the Département de la Guerre, Bureau du Personnel du Génie, confirming to Citizen Gaucher his rank of second lieutenant in the 3rd sapper battalion of the Armée du Rhin. Some foxing and creasing, a few small tears.
