Lot of late 18th - early 19th century manuscripts, including: - Letter of tonsure in Latin by Guillaume Florentin, prince of Salm and bishop of Tournai, certifying the abilities of César de Faÿ de Maubourg (1756-1831), son of Claude-Florimond de Faÿ, comte de Coisse and Marie-Françoise Vachon de Belmont, after examination, and granting him clerical status. Signed "Guil. Flor. Episc Tornacensis" and dated August 1785, with stamped episcopal arms. 1 page. Some missing text. - Document in Latin signifying the appointment of Just-César de Faÿ de Maubourg to the chapel of Maizel following the death of its last possessor, in the bishopric of Le Puy (present-day Clermont region), edited by Joseph Stanislas Derachat Desgranges, vicar general, and bearing the stamp of the bishopric of Le Puy, dated December 12, 1786. 2 pages. - Documents concerning Maltese hotels: One in Italian, dated August 14, 1794, addressed to Charles de Faÿ de Maubourg, chevalier de l'ordre de Jérusalem de la langue d'Auvergne, concerning the usufruct of houses belonging to Seigneur Victor de Belmont in La Valette; A letter dated September 14, 1801, directly following the two-year blockade and dealing with the problem of annualities to be paid by a certain Mr. Delicata, addressed to Charles-César de Faÿ de La Tour-Maubourg: "I have just had, my dear Cézar, a great deal of satisfaction in seeing again our kind Victor (Marquis de La Tour-Maubourg, 1768-1850), who is returning to France in good health and with the charming (?) and numerous prisoners.) and a number of prisoners. I give him 390 Maltese Ecus for an annuality of your houses, and show you by the attached memorandum that you are asked for some delay in paying you only one year of the two you are owed. (...) My best regards to my dear and very respectable niece, and to all your family, including my good Charles; although I find it hard to forgive his laziness, I still love him and am delighted to know that he is a happy husband and father (...) my dear nephew; I embrace you with all my heart and never cease to wish for your happiness and for everything that interests you (...)". 2 pages. An autograph letter from Charles César de La Tour Maubourg signed and dated 20 germinal de l'an 10 (10 avril 1802) about claims he wants to regularize "Je crois que les demandes sons des friponeries". A certificate of power of attorney by Charles César de Faÿ de Maubourg to collect on his behalf the royalties owed by Mr. Delicata, dated June 28, 1802 and signed M.C.C. de Faÿ de La Tour Maubourg. - A handwritten bill signed "Charles de Tour Maubourg", Paris, February 23, 1816. "I authorize Monsieur Beauchet to count to Mr. Vutat the sum of seventy-four thousand francs that he received for me from Mr. Merlin by virtue of the power of attorney that Mde de Maubourg had given him, I will hold him free and validly discharged on the receipt that Mr. Vutat will give him at the bottom of the present authorization." - Compte de Madame Veuve de Latour-Maubourg, relatif aux affaires d'Amérique, presented by Mr. Bureaux de Puzy, from December 1, 1849 to July 1, 1850. Dated and signed by Bureaux de Puzy, Paris, July 3, 1850. One sheet folded in half. - A few newspaper clippings from 1973-1974 about 19th-century members of the La Tour-Maubourg family, the château and the mausoleum.
