Tapis - Tibet (1900-1930)

Thick wool rug hand-woven and knotted in Tibet, with a beautiful border decorated with Buddhist symbols, two five-clawed dragons chase the flaming pearl surrounded by clouds. Good condition. 150 x 83 cm. Provenance: Sandro VOLTA Collection (1900-1986) and descendants. Sandro VOLTA was a writer, journalist and art collector, who wrote the preface to his friend Tristan Tzara's "Manifeste du dadaïsme". Part of his collection was sold by Maître Rheims at Hôtel Drouot on May 16 and 17, 1957. From 1925 to 1932, he was a correspondent for the newspaper LA STAMPA in China and Tibet.
