Beautiful ritual mask of a grimacing demon, in thick painted and lacquered wood, bearing the ideogram Wang (king or emperor) on the forehead. Height: 27 cm - Width: 24 cm. Nuo theater dates back to the earliest times. Its dances and processions to the gods are similar to exorcism rites. "Nuo" means "expulsion of demons" in Chinese.
