Dueling pistol set in an original 1850 rosewood case, size 47 x 25 cm, with brass escutcheon, sheathed in blue velvet marked in the lid "Francis Marquis. 4 boulevart des Italiens à Paris". Rifled, damask barrels marked on top "Fni par Francis Marquis. 4 boulevard des Italiens". Engraved breeches. Finely scroll-engraved locks and hammers. Engraved fittings en suite. Finger rest bridges. Carved walnut crossbars. And its accessories: Two cleaning rods and two tamping rods, chimney-dismantling screwdriver, bullet mould, mallet, round notepad box and round capsule box. Good condition. Circa 1850. Francis MARQUIS, a first-rate gunsmith, he took part in the 1855 and 1867 World's Fairs in Paris and 1862 in London.
