"According to the Gospel of Matthew, the Magi, guided by the Star of Bethlehem, came to bring offerings to the infant Jesus: gold, frankincense and myrrh. The baby Jesus sits on Mary's lap, behind whom stands Joseph, before Melchior on his knees, Gaspard and Balthazar standing, their hands laden with offerings.
