Unmarked early edition cast iron. The Parisian sculptor soon specialized in small animal subjects, which were very popular with enthusiasts around 1850. Numerous editions of his work made him famous, particularly for his depictions of horses, foremost among them "L'Accolade". But Mène also knew how to render the endearing character of canines, like our young female greyhound.
