TABLEAU "LA CORRIDA" by Constantin TERECHKOVITCH (1902-1978) Gouache on paper signed lower left Label on the back from Galerie Paul Petrides, Paris. Size: 40 x 52 cm Sold by designation Constantin (or Kostia) Terechkovitch is a French painter of Russian origin. Born in 1902, Kostia Terechkovitch showed an early interest in drawing, a gift encouraged by his parents, who entrusted his hands to the Moscow painter Constantin Youone and his eyes to the collector Sergei Shchukin. Terechkovitch later entered the School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, the Russian equivalent of the French École des Beaux-Arts. That same year, 1917, the Russian Revolution broke out, disrupting civil society. Taking this as an opportunity, he decided to leave for Paris, then the capital of the arts, which he reached only in 1920 after a series of adventures and odd jobs.
