Cavalry officer's gibbet Covered in black leather. Gold-plated brass uncrowned eagle sides, ruffle and pattelette motif. Blue velvet lining (wear). Black leather banner lined with midnight-blue velvet, with gilded brass eagle motif and shield. Second Empire period. A.B.E. (a hole on the back of the flap). Attached: Two banners. One for a health service officer, in black leather with gilded brass motifs, IIIe République; the other for a Spanish officer, covered with gilded braid with fleur-de-lys motif, lined with pink silk, brass trimmings with silver pomegranate motif. Late 19th century.
