Very fine CHAJLI carpet (Caucasus-Arran), late 19th century Dimensions : 196 x 120cm. Technical features: Wool velvet on wool foundation. A navy field supports two boxes (Sandeukleu) in brick and salmon pink with ethnic or stylized floral motifs. Crochets, animals, small symbols and nine crocheted lozenges with multicolored star ornamentation complete the decor. Two pearl-gray counter-borders with carnation garlands frame the main ivory border with a succession of starry flowers, all in polychrome. Note the base of the main border, which was started with a polychrome medallion motif!
