TEHRAN (Persia) carpet, late 19th century Dimensions: 315 x 201cm. Technical features: Wool velvet on cotton backing. Delicate trees with branches covered in multicolored flowers, whose branches form a mihrab on an ivory background, provide shelter for a variety of fauna (variegated birds, deer and monkeys). The main border is interlaced with floral scrolls, embellished with perched birds. It is flanked by two sky counter-edges with flowers and birds, and two ivory counter-edges with plant garlands. Very poetic.
