(On designation 02290) - Maurice FAVRE (1875-1919) "Bust of General Pierre Marie Gabriel MALETERRE (1853-1923), Gouverneur des Invalides and founder of the Association Générale des Mutilés de Guerre". Large direct-cut Carrara marble sculpture signed and dated 1916 lower right (70 x 83 x 45 cm). Provenance: Vte Pousse Cornet 12/03/22. Part of an official commission in 1917 with the bust of General Maunoury. Pierre Gabriel MALETERRE, born 1858 in Bergerac and died 11/26/23 at Les Invalides, French general. Saint Cyr 1878, Algerian and Tunisian campaigns between 1880 and 1885. At the start of the war, he was colonel of the 46th RI, seriously wounded at Vassincourt on 09/14/14, with one leg amputated. Promoted to brigadier general in 1915, he was appointed governor of the Invalides.
