A FINE GEORGE III FIGURED MAHOGANY MUSICAL EIGHT-DAY LONGCASE CLOCK the 12" arched brass dial with silvered chapter ring enclosing a matted centre with subsidiary seconds dial, name plaque and date aperture, below a rolling moon with the tidal dial, six tune selector and two subsidiary dials to the corners for strike silent and chime silent. Fronting a substantial three-train weight-driven eight-day movement with five pillars, anchor escapement, rack strike and musical barrel playing six tunes on 14 bells and 25 hammers. The pagoda topped case with break arch trunk door and canted corners; raised on a panelled base with double plinth. (252cm high ) The pierced fries from the centre of the pagoda has been replaced with a panel. The left hand sound fries has been damaged. The lock to the hood is missing and there is a small repair to the mask. There is a split in both panels below the quarter columns on the trunk. The bottom plinth and a small piece of veneer missing from the left side. The case has a nice colour and atina. The door is nice and flat on the trunk. The double plinth base is original as is the backboard. The dial and movement are original to case and sat on the original seatboard. There is rubbing to the silvering on the chspterings and the minute hand has been repaired. The movement, which is also quarter chiming as well as being musical, is complete and in working order but will require a service. Comes with original brass cased weights and brass bob pendulum.
