Gerhard Wassnig (1942-2012), Austrian artist, received the Theodor Körner Prize for his artistic achievements in 1995 and was director of the municipal gallery in Lienz, East Tyrol, from 1964. Despite its square format, "Aufbruch der Erde" is based on the wooden discs so typical of Wassnig. The medium of sand used by the artist is also repeatedly found in his oeuvre, with the sand coming from all parts of the world. - Somewhat rubbed, the corners and edges stronger, small loss to the lower left edge.
