Albert Maria Pümpel (1956) studied under Gotthard Graubner and Joseph Beuys at the Düsseldorf Academy, among others. Pümpel's painting testifies to his aim of bringing abstract painting closer to figurative painting. To this end, Pümpel repeatedly explored the painting techniques of the Old Masters and intensively studied Christian iconography. These aspirations and interests are also clearly evident in the five angels, whose subject matter already suggests a religiously charged work.
