Huth, Willy Robert. Collection of 48 works on paper in various artistic techniques. Pencil, ballpoint pen, pen, felt-tip pen and ink sketches as well as 3 woodcuts. Rarely signed, some with estate stamp. Circa 1950-1970. sheet dimensions: between 10.5 x 15 cm and 61 x 44 cm. The collection contains portraits, landscapes, drawings of animals and abstract works. - Willy Robert Huth (1890-1977) is one of the outstanding artists of the "Lost Generation" of Expressive Realism. After training at the Kunstgewerbeschule Erfurt and in Stuttgart under Paul Kaemmerer, where he met W. Baumeister and A. Hölzel, he worked as a freelance painter in Berlin from 1919. There he met Schmidt-Rottluff, Heckel, Pechstein and Grosz, who were among his circle of friends. He was banned from painting under the National Socialists and all his works were destroyed in a bombing raid. From 1947 to 1957 he was a professor at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Berlin. - Partly folded, often with marginal tears, sheets browned and rubbed, some creases.
