Important publication of the early Russian avant-garde, organ of the 1909 St. Petersburg Artists' Association initiated by M. Matyushin and E. Guro, initiated in 1909 by the Petersburg Artists' Association. - With programmatic texts such as V. Markov's (Matvej's) "Principles of New Art" and a Futurist Manifesto as well as poetic contributions (E. Guro, A. Kruchenyh, V. Hlebnikov, D. and N. Burlyuk and others). The plates of the first two issues reproduce works by I. Shkol'nik, P. Filonov, E. Spandikov, O. Rozanova, etc. A fourth issue was not published. A communication from the editors (with the cooperation of the Moscow "Gileya") bound into issue 3 is preserved here, which refers to the presentation of Moscow members of the Union in issue 4.
