England, circa 1880, the telescope unsigned, brass zaponized, on tripod, freely rotatable, with two further original lenses, fully functional, in original mahogany box with engraved brass plate of the former owner "Capt. B.F. Clark, R.N., 1884". Lens diameter: approx. 52 mm. Height: approx. 46 cm. Maximum tube length: approx. 101 cm. Vice-Admiral Sir Bouverie Francis Clark (1842-1922) was an officer in the Royal Navy and was appointed captain in 1884. The telescope offered here could have been a gift on the occasion of his promotion. A late 19th century telescope formerly owned by Capt. Clark R.N. England c. 1880, unsigned, lacquered-brass, the c. 101 cm long body-tube with rack and pinion focusing on tapering column support and folding tripod stand, with two alternative lenses, in fitted mahogany case with inlaid brass sign inscribed "Capt.
