First edition. - Not published by Brüggemann-Ewers. - Collector's edition of 15 treatises, mainly school programs from the years 1764-74 from Segeberg, Oldenburg and Altona. Ehlers (1732-1800) is considered a reform pedagogue and philanthropist close to Basedow and Campe; he advocated state (non-church) education and a professional teaching profession. Among the titles included: "Etwas vom Nutzen und Schaden der Schauspiele", "Gedanken über den Luxus", "Von den Vortheilen und Vergnügungen, welche Aeltern im Unterricht und in der Bildung der Jugend vor Schullehrern voraus haben", "Einige das Altonaische Gymnasium betreffende Bemerkungen und Gedanken", "Gedanken über Pensionseinrichtungen". - Front endpaper with small marginal tear, preliminaries somewhat browned, otherwise a clean copy.
