Two volumes in-12 (12 ff, 571 pp // 92 pp, 7 ff), full brown calf, spine ribbed and decorated (Period binding). A good copy, despite minor snags to the covers of volume I. First French translation by J. Rou. Illustrated with a title-frontispiece, a dedication engraving and 103 copper-engraved emblems, interpreted from drawings by Jan Sadeler and set in cartouches. A major work by Saavedra Faxardo, who was Philip IV's ambassador to Germany. A collection of moral and political ideas in an agreeable form, interspersed with anecdotes for the instruction of Princes, written in particular for the education of Infante Balthasar, son of Philip IV.
