Music - Ignátieff, Michail: My life in pictures. Private album of the balalaika virtuoso. With extremely numerous, mostly mounted original photographs in black and white and color, postcards, picture prints, etc. St. Petersburg, 1910 to Hamburg, 1985. 36 x 24 x 15 cm. Weight: 7.5 kg. Half-linen album from around 1950. Literally "plugged" full private archive from the year of birth 1910 to old age (Ignátieff died in 1991). The German musician and composer of Russian origin came to Berlin in 1918. As an autodidact, he quickly developed into a balalaika virtuoso and was soon regarded as the best player outside Russia. His first recording appeared in 1935, his first appearance on television in 1936, during and after the war Ignátieff played on the radio and on numerous tours. Further recordings followed, partly with balalaika concertos dedicated to him, partly with chamber music he composed himself for balalaika and piano as well as variations on Slavic folk music. - The album traces Ignátieff's career and his personal environment year by year in unusual detail, with many photos labeled on the back. Included are a number of printed materials such as interview typescripts, newspaper clippings, posters, concert programs and Goldstein's biography from 1978, many of whose illustrations are based on Ignátieff's archive. - In addition: Large terracotta bust of Ignátieff, signed A.
