Loosely bound in later labeled cardboard folders with closing bands. One of 50 signed and numbered copies, titles of volumes 1 and 3 numbered and signed, title of volume 2 numbered. Copy: 7/50 The Nettlaus manuscript was reproduced using a collotype process. - In addition to short partial reprints in various journals, the present work was only published in 1971 as a reprint of copy no. 22, from the holdings of the Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli, in a total edition of 70 copies. - "Nettlau himself produced 50 numbered copies of his Bakunin biography and sent a large number of them to acquaintances and institutions throughout Europe. In a subsequent undated note, Nettlau recorded that the following copies were still in his possession: '1. 2. 3. 5. 7. 11. ? 14. 15. 30. 32. 34. 49 = 12 pieces; 38 pieces are distributed'." Bakunin.de with a very detailed list of all copies). - Title volume 1 with 2 small tears on the right, mostly only in the margins, partly somewhat browned or brownstained, partly slightly creased, overall very good condition.
