The Danish Academy of Fine Arts, opened in 1754 in Charlottenburg Palace in Copenhagen, organized the first exhibition of works by its members in 1769. A repetition was planned every two years, but according to the preface, another exhibition was not held until 1778. The catalogs of both events can only be found at the Royal Library in Stockholm. - This guide begins with architectural models and drawings by the director Caspar Frederik Harsdorff, followed by busts and portraits by (Johann Martin) Preissler and over 40 works by Johannes Wiedewelt (including Apollo and the nine muses in plaster medallions). A total of 212 objects are listed and briefly annotated. - First leaves waterstained, outer margin of title and preface brittle and with losses without affecting text, otherwise fresh. VAT: *
