He was the most famous Italian surgeon of the Renaissance. His fame as a teacher attracted many students to his place of work in Padua. - The work is particularly important for the history of orthopaedics (for details see Valentin, Geschichte der Orthopädie 68ff.). - Slight waterstaining and some browning throughout, last leaf partly reinforced with Japan and with restored losses (little loss of text).
