[MODE]. [REVUE].

"Journal des dames et des modes" Ens. 6 vols. Frankfurt am Main, J-P Lemaire, 1827-1831. Six vols. In-8 (21 x 13), half calf with corners, smooth spines, yellow edges, title and appendices. Six volumes grouping from n°27 to supplement n°52 of the year 1927, the year 1929 (50 issues) and the complete year 1931 (52 issues). Illustrated with watercolor hors-texte engravings. A luxury journal created in 1797 by Jean Baptiste Sellèque, it was then directed by Pierre Antoine Leboux de la Mésangère from 1801 to 1831. The journal reached its apogee under the Consulate and Empire. From 1830 onwards, the arrival of the July Monarchy, based on bourgeois values of economy, sounded the death knell for the magazine. Burdened with debts, it ceased publication in January 1839. Light foxing and tired binding.
