JULIO ROMERO DE TORRES (Córdoba, 1874-1930)

Size: 88 x 99 cm In his portraits, Romero de Torres, gives priority to the details of the foreground, to the young woman leaning on the lintel or window sill, her face, her hairstyle, the soft fabric of the satin dress; it is also interesting the symbolism of the roses leaning out of the lintel (without the characteristic glass vase), attribute used in homage to the women; and in the background in a more abstract way, the twilight landscape of the soft hills of the Cordovan countryside. We know of several portraits where the painter used this composition. We highlight for example: "Serenity" from the Museum of Fine Arts of Castellón, "Waiting for the Kings" and "The girl with the braid", both from a private collection.
