Description

JAPAN - MEIJI period (1868 - 1912) Ittô-ryôson (One stupa, two worshippers), or Homage to the Lotus Sutra between the Two Buddhas. Composed of the two Buddhas Shakamuni-butsu and Tahô-nyorai in gold-lacquered wood, seated in padmasana on a lotus-shaped pedestal surrounding the tablet of homage to the title of the Lotus Sutra of the Wonderful Law Namu myōhō renge kyō. The whole resting on two elongated shishi and a rectangular base adorned with law wheels. (Misses, restorations). Size: 61 x 55 cm Similar piece in the Musée Guimet, no.
