A Paris porcelain part coffee service, early 19th century, painted after Georges-Louis Leclerc, comte de Buffon with wild, exotic and domestic animals including sheep, dogs, cattle, foxes, a stag, a donkey, a goat, a tiger, a wolf and an elephant, blue crossed swords marks. Comprising: a large coffee pot and cover, a hot water pot lacking cover, a sucrier and cover, a bowl, three coffee cans and five saucers. (14) Georges-Louis Leclerc, comte de Buffon, was a French naturalist who published a number of treatises and books with engravings of birds and animals. Frederic-Theodore Faber painted a porcelain service with similar decoration for King William I of the Netherlands, which was sold as part of the Ann and Gordon Getty Collection in 2022.
