Fashion Collection of 32 original drawings. France, 1943-1945, various techniques: Ink and/or watercolor, charcoal and pencil, each on firm paper. Mounted under a silk shirt. Sheet dimensions from approx. 27.5 x 18 cm to 37 x 26.5 cm. Loosely inserted in cardboard portfolio d. Zt. with closing bands and hs. Cover title. Most verso inscribed "Création" and dated recto or verso. Some also bear titles in the motif such as "Mémoire", "Française", "1er Bal" or "Coiffures". - The present collection is extremely interesting not only from an artistic perspective, but also in the historical context of the Second World War. Although clothing may have taken a back seat during the German occupation of France, the fashion world did not stand still. In France in the 1940s, however, clothing was regulated. Only hats escaped censorship and were the subject of a wealth of creativity, as this collection with its imaginative models shows. In order to have style, ingenuity was the only motto, especially in view of the scarcity of raw materials. - Paper somewhat browned in places. One drawing with slight marginal tears.
