Da Costa Book of Hours. Facsimile of the manuscript MS M 399 from the Morgan Library & Museum. With numerous colored miniatures. Graz, Akademische Druck- und Verlagsanstalt, 2010. Cl.-8°. OWildldr. with gilt title and gilt edges punched on three sides in OPlexiglas slipcase. Codices Selecti CXVI - One of 381 numbered copies (GA 480). - The manuscript was created in Belgium around 1515 by Simon Bening at the request of a Spanish patron. It later came into the possession of Don Alvaro da Costa (1470-1540), the armorer and chamberlain of the Portuguese King Manuel I. The codex remained in family ownership for centuries until it reappeared on the market in 1905 and has been in private ownership ever since. - Without the commentary volume. - A very good copy. With numerous color miniatures.
