Singapore Windecker, Adolf Collection of ca. 52 letters and postcards mainly from Katja Windecker, wife of the German Consul General Dr. Adolf Windecker (1891-1974) in Singapore. 1938-1939. mostly with envelopes, mostly stamps removed, partly censored Contains eh. Private mail mainly from Windecker's wife to her mother-in-law I. von Büchler in Berlin mostly from Singapore as well as from various hotels (Annam, Baden-Baden). Hotels (Annam, Baden-Baden, Siemréap (Angkor), Bremen, Cameron Highlands) and from the ship 'Gneisenau' on corresponding stationery from the outward journey to Singapore and return journey at the outbreak of the 2nd World War. Also letters from a trip to Indochina Cambodia. - Unique correspondence of the diplomatic couple with lots of background information about life as a diplomat in Asia. - Adolf von Windecker subsequently worked as a representative for the Foreign Office, including 1941 with the Reichskommissar in Riga, and in 1944 he organized the exchange of prisoners of war in Constance. - Includes: 12 small OPhotographs and 4 newspaper cuttings.
